Food good for heart health for Diabetic

I am 35 yrs old and I have been suffering from Juvenile Diabetes for the past 15 yrs. Although, I take tablets regularly and keep my sugar level under control, I want to know some foods that are good for heart health because they say diabetic people are more prone to heart attack. Am worried...

    Hi Chetan,

    Don't assume all Diabetics end up getting a heart attack. Do exercise regularly and burn out the sugar from your blood. Some good foods for heart health are Garlic, oats, Saffron, turmeric.

    Hello, I second Nivedita's comments. Don't worry too much.. You can eat Bottle gourd and egg whites also. They are also good for your heart's health

    Hi Chetan,

    Foods that lower Cholesterol are good for Heart. Oats has Beta Glucan which helps lower Cholesterol. Raw vegetables, Whole Grain Foods, Bran are suggested for Heart patients.

    Hi,

    Some more foods are there to maintain cholesterol are Amla(raw), flaxseeds,Onion & choose omega 3 , 6 rich foods - walnut , fish (not in deep fry), fish liver oil,almond(4 no).
    Exercise(45mins per day) is important to reduce LDL(Bad cholesterol) & to increase HDL(good cholesterol).

    i agree with sujeetha ... withg these foods , please make sure you use the right oil for cooking . use combination of MUFA and PUFA.
    MUFA- peanut oil, mustard seed oil , olive oil ,
    PUFA - soyabean, sunflower, rice bran, all vegetable oils ... hence if you are mixing 2 oils mix one MUFA and one PUFA. this way you will be able to maintain your cholesterol levels neatr normal. and with this 20 minutes of walks daily will help you further .
    maintaining your body weight near ideal is another key to good health !
