there are 2 very important aspects to be kept in mind if u r managing your blood sugar levels ... the postprandial sugar is the sugar raised in your body because of the food that you ate. so if the pp sugar is to be controlled , walking 20-25 min after your meals wld help . and fasting sugar is the sugar tht your liver produce overnight. so to bring a drop in tht level , walking late in the evening eve would help in reducing this thresh hold.

@ priyanka - ghiya juice is good as it has good amount of pectin in it. which is a soluble fibre and helps in maintain blood pressure and cholesterol. as diabetes increases the risk of these problem as well ...
where as karela juice and neem juice do have hypoglycemic effect ... but u need to be careful while adminsitering these juices .. as if you take them in combination of medice , it mite lead to serious drop in the blood sugar level, as generally ppl take it in the morning hours and empty stomach ... so plz be careful while doing so ... but if somebody is managing blood sugar without any medication , thn these things can really help.

Yes,yoga does help in two ways.First, there are asanas specially for pancreas stimulation which helps in optimum insulin secretion.Secondly, like any other physical activity, while doing yoga, the person is able to utilize the extra glucose present in blood which is the natural way to control sugar. There are many examples where the person with diabetes were able to get rid of disease after regularly doing pranayam for 2-3 years.

People with high blood sugar should avoid any kind of a fruit juice as it adds on the blood sugar count. instead choose whole fruits and that too should not be eaten with the meals .. they should be eaten in between 2 major meals ...

how is palak useful in diabetes?

@julia - palak is beneficial for diabetics in many direct and indirect ways :

    * The magnesium contained in spinach helps to prevent complications that occur following diabetes. Regular consumption of spinach stabilizes your blood sugar and prevents it from fluctuating too much.

*many diabetic patients develop a risk of hypertention as well .Spinach is rich in potassium and low in sodium. The balanced quantities of these minerals are highly beneficial for high blood pressure patients as potassium lowers and sodium raises the blood pressure. Spinach also contains folate which helps to reduce hypertension and relaxes blood vessels, thus maintaining proper blood flow.

*spinach has gud fiber content. hence the G.I being low, it can help in maintaining the blood sugar, and prevent the sudden sugar hikes.
