The A1c test is used to test the average amount of glucose in blood. With A1c tests, doctors can know about the glucose control of the diabetics. Doctors decide about the medications and other measures that are required to control diabetes based on this test. If one shows signs of diabetes like increased thirst, increased urination, slow healing, fatigue, blurred vision, etc., this test is conducted. If you have diabetes, then the result will show 47 mmol/mol (6.5%) or higher. If you are pre-diabetic, then the result will be 39 - 46 mmol/mol (5.7 - 6.4%). If you do not have diabetes then the result will be between 4-6%.
