Hypertension or high blood pressure is not a disease but a syndrome that leads to other diseases. When the systolic blood pressure increases more than 160 mm/hg and the diastolic blood pressure increases more than 100 mm/hg this is a condition of high blood pressure and medication should be initiated at this level besides a low sodium diet.Uncontrolled high blood pressure may affect different body organs like the heart leading to cardio vascular diseases and even cardiac arrest. The kidney leading to glomerulonephritis and even acute renal failure. The brain leading to stroke and further causing hemiplegia or paralysis. Thus hypertension should be treated timely in order to avoid all these diseases.A proper low sodium low fat diet in combination with medications like beta blockers and diuretics should be timely initiated before it is too late.
